The Bitachon Mindset for Chaotic Times
How to Stay Calm in a World on Fire.
Welcome back to Living the Dream!
If you’re not subscribed yet, what are you waiting for?
I've always had a complicated relationship with the news, but as my bitachon has grown, that relationship has completely transformed.
I don’t usually like to dive into politics or online debates, but what I saw this week couldn’t be ignored. The winner of the Democratic primary for NYC mayor, someone who openly hates Israel, said he would arrest Netanyahu if he visited. It’s time New York lived its values, he said. If those are the values of NYC leadership, it’s time to ask serious questions, and listen carefully to the message Hashem is sending.
This isn’t about fear. It’s about clarity. Hashem always speaks to us through world events. The question is: are we listening?
We all need to come home, because Eretz Yisrael is different. It’s Hashem’s palace, the one we’ve been davening to return to for 2,000 years. And now, the gates are open. You can live here. You can feel Hashem in a way you can’t explain until you experience it yourself.
Since moving here, my bitachon has skyrocketed. The clarity is unmistakable. And when the world feels shaky, there are over 7 million Jews ready to welcome you home.
So how do we stay calm when the headlines are terrifying? When enemies threaten Israel and uncertainty clouds the future?
There’s only one answer: Unshakable Bitachon.
It’s not a quick fix. It takes real work. But it’s the kind of work that transforms your life. You stop living in fear—and start living with peace.
That’s why I created…

How to Stay Calm in a World on Fire: The Bitachon Mindset for Chaotic Times

Chaos, lies, and fear are everywhere—but Bitachon changes everything.
The news is scary.
The way people talk about the news is scarier.
And the way the media twists the news? Terrifying.
Then there’s the fake news. The half-truths. The “experts” on X (Twitter) who suddenly know everything about international law, military strategy, and politics. And the terrorist sympathizers flooding the comment sections of anyone who dares post anything in support of Israel.
It’s exhausting.
It’s enraging.
It’s enough to make a person lose their mind.
But here’s the question that really matters:
How do you stay sane in a world gone mad?
How do you protect your heart when every headline is another gut-punch?
How do you stay focused on what actually matters—your family, your Torah, your growth—when everything around you feels like it’s falling apart?
For me, there’s only one answer: Bitachon.
Trust in Hashem.
The World Is Loud, But It’s Not in Charge
I still remember the days when the newspaper was the big excitement of the morning. Someone would run to the door, grab the rolled-up paper, and each of us had our section—the comics, the sports, the front page. If you were a weather person, well, you were probably disappointed most of the year. (Spoiler: in the winter, it’s cold. You’ll survive.)
Back then, the news showed up once a day.
Now it’s a never-ending flood of updates, debates, reactions, and “breaking news” banners that feel like they’re designed to keep us in a constant state of anxiety.
And I get it. I used to refresh news pages nonstop. Twitter. Facebook. (You know, back in the day). News sites from all sides. I thought if I missed something—even by five minutes—I was somehow falling behind.
But here’s what I’ve realized: Most of it doesn’t matter.
And even when it does matter, worrying about it doesn’t help.
If something big is happening, I’ll hear about it in conversation, on WhatsApp, or by seeing what people are posting. And if I dig deeper, it’s often more for entertainment than to inform myself.
And yes, these days, politics might as well be a reality show.
You never know what’s going to happen next.
But the real plot twist?
When you start working on your bitachon, the entire world looks different.
Bitachon Turns the News into a TV Show
With Bitachon, you’re not disconnected—you’re just anchored.
Things still happen.
Wars break out.
Elections get weird.
World leaders say insane things on camera and don’t get me started on the tweets.
But instead of spiraling into fear, you take a deep breath and say:
“Hashem, I’m looking forward to seeing how You do this.”
Because you know that Hashem is writing the script.
You’re watching the story unfold—but you already know the ending.
It’s like watching a suspenseful series on Netflix. Everyone’s making theories, debating online, waiting for the next episode to drop. But you’re not panicking, because you know the show is going somewhere good, and it’s only a show.
And once the episode ends, you go back to real life.
To what really matters: davening, learning, mitzvot, community, family.
Bitachon gives you that ability—to be in the world, but not consumed by it.
Bitachon Doesn’t Mean Ignoring Reality
Let me be clear:
Bitachon is not sticking your head in the sand.
It’s not passivity. It’s not ignoring evil.
It’s seeing everything that’s going on and asking:
“Hashem, what do You want from me?”
Take what just happened in New York:
A mayoral candidate who openly sympathizes with terrorists just won the Democratic primary. He was asked on camera if he would welcome Prime Minister Netanyahu to New York. Without hesitation, he said, “No—we would arrest him.”
You could literally see the hate in his eyes.
It’s chilling. And yes, it’s a wake-up call.
But even that doesn’t shake me—because I know that Hashem is sending a message.
He’s always speaking to us.
First in whispers.
If the message is not received, it gets louder.
Sometimes in bold, flashing letters.
If you live outside of Israel and you’re watching this unfold thinking, “Baruch Hashem I don’t live in New York,” you’re missing the message.
We’ve seen this story before. And it never ends well.
But this time, it’s different.
Because now, we have a place to go.
In the 1930s, Jews had nowhere to turn.
Today, Eretz Yisrael is standing with its arms wide open.
Over 7 million Jews cheering you on, ready to welcome you home.
This isn’t about panic.
It’s about purpose.
It’s about hearing the message and saying:
“Hashem, I get it. I’m listening. And I’m coming home—with calm, with bitachon, with clarity.”
The Headlines Are Holy
When you live with bitachon, even the scariest events start to feel like pieces of a divine puzzle.
The protests. The inflation. The chaos. The wars.
It’s all been spoken about.
We’re not just reading the news—we’re watching nevuot unfold.
This past week, Daf Yomi started Masechet Avoda Zara and a Tosefot went viral. It says:
When Rome (understood as the USA) attacks Persia (modern-day Iran), we are right before Mashiach.
We don’t understand all the details, and the Rambam says we won’t until it actually happens. But still—how can we not look around and ask:
“Is this what Chazal meant? Are we really that close?”
The Gemara in Sotah (49b) says that right before Mashiach, the world will fall apart. Chutzpah, inflation, generation of the dog and more. Things will continue to get worse until…
…"Ein lanu al mi l’hisha’ein ela al Avinu shebashamayim."
We will have no one to rely on except our Father in Heaven.
It’s not just a prediction.
It’s an invitation.
This Is How We Live the Dream
We’re living in wild, miraculous times.
Scary and beautiful. Confusing and exhilarating.
And the only way to navigate it all without getting swept away is to build unshakable bitachon.
That’s what allows you to:
Stay calm when the world is loud.
See clearly when everything is distorted.
Respond with purpose instead of fear.
🛠️ Practical Tips: Staying Calm When the World Feels on Fire
Limit News Exposure: Set specific times to check the news—don’t let updates hijack your mind all day.
Anchor in Bitachon: When headlines shake you, say out loud: “Hashem, I trust You. I know this is all part of Your plan.”
Ground Yourself in Reality: Focus on what’s real and in your control—your family, your davening, your learning.
Replace Doom-Scrolling with Torah: Fill anxious moments with something uplifting—listen to a Torah podcast, learn some Torah, or read Tehillim.
Ask the Right Question: Instead of “What’s going to happen?” ask: “What does Hashem want from me right now?”
Bitachon Affirmations: Write down 2–3 short affirmations and read them daily. Examples:
“Hashem is in control, not the news.”
“I am safe in Hashem’s hands.”
“Everything is happening for me, not to me.”
Community Check-Ins: Find someone (even a podcast) that gives you consistent chizuk and bitachon. Make it a regular part of your week. Stay connected to voices that strengthen your emuna.
News-Free Mornings: Don’t start your day with headlines and social media. Give your first 30–60 minutes to Torah, tefillah, or gratitude journaling before engaging with the outside world.
Turn Headlines into Tefillah: When you hear upsetting news, turn it into a short tefillah. Say: “Hashem, please guide us, protect us, and bring us closer to You.” Reframe fear into connection.
🔥 Weekly Challenge: Train Your Spiritual Reflex
Turn Every Headline into a Conversation with Hashem
This week, every time you see a headline or social post that triggers fear or anger, pause. Take a deep breath and say:
“Hashem, I know You’re running the world. I choose calm. I choose trust.”
Do this consistently for 7 days and watch how your bitachon muscle grows.
