The Most Enjoyable Life in the World

(Hint: It’s Not What You Think)

Welcome back to the Living the Dream newsletter!

If you’re not subscribed yet, what are you waiting for?

This past Elul, my life shifted in a completely new direction.

If you’ve been following me, you might remember: after months of ignoring all the signs, I finally took my leap of emunah — and started what I now call Living the Dream.
But I realized… I’ve never really explained what that means.

Let me take you back.

A few years ago, I was consulting for Ford of Canada. One dealership owner stood out. Every time I asked how he was doing, he gave the same answer:
“Living the dream.”
And he meant it. He loved what he did. He woke up every morning excited to get to work, to live life. That always stuck with me.

Fast forward to a few years later — I’m living in Eretz Yisrael, but I’m struggling.
My business isn’t going the way I hoped.
And meanwhile, Hashem keeps sending me hints:
People telling me I should be giving shiurim. Sharing divrei Torah. Coaching. Offering chizuk.
Each time, I’d think: One day. But right now I need to focus on my business.

That’s when something changed.

I started going all in on my inner work — my mindset, bitachon, gratitude, Torah learning — and slowly, Hashem opened my eyes.
To what was already right in front of me.
I’m living in the Holy Land. I have an incredible wife and kids. Amazing friends. Neighbors. A warm community. Sunshine. Purpose.
And it hit me:

I am living the dream.

But not in the way the world usually defines it.
The more I learned Torah, the more I saw: This is what the dream really is.
And Hashem didn’t leave it up to guesswork — He gave us the blueprint.

That’s what this week’s article is about:
The Torah’s version of Living the Dream — a life of meaning, joy, clarity, and reward in this world and the next.

With Shavuot just around the corner, as we prepare to say Naaseh v’nishma once again, I hope this gives you a fresh lens on what it really means to live a Torah life.
To live the dream.

Are You Living the Dream? Here’s How

We don’t usually say this out loud, but we all feel it:
We want to enjoy life.

To wake up with excitement. To move through the day with clarity, purpose, and peace of mind.

But here’s the question nobody asks:

What if the most enjoyable life isn’t found on a beach or in a bank account — but in the pages of the Torah?

What if Hashem already gave us the roadmap to the most fulfilling life — not just in the next world, but in this one too?

With Shavuot just around the corner, it’s time to take a deeper look at what it actually means to live a Torah life — and how it can fill us with more joy, meaning, and inner calm than anything else in the world.

Fruit Now, Reward Forever

There’s a Mishna we say every morning that teaches us a secret most people never think about:

“Eilu devarim she’adam ochel peiroteihem ba’olam hazeh v’hakeren kayemet l’olam habah…”
These are the things a person enjoys the fruit of in this world, while the principal stays intact for the World to Come.

You don’t have to choose between this world and the next.
When you live with Torah, you get both.

It’s like walking through a beautiful orchard — tasting the sweet fruit every day, while the trees continue growing and bearing reward for eternity.

And what are these mitzvot that bring blessing in both worlds?

  • Honoring your parents

  • Acts of kindness

  • Arriving early to the Beit Midrash

  • Welcoming guests

  • Visiting the sick

  • Helping a bride and groom

  • Escorting the dead

  • Focusing on tefillah

  • Bringing peace between people

And at the end of the list — the foundation of it all:

“V’talmud Torah k’neged kulam.”
Torah outweighs them all.

Why? Because Torah doesn’t just add to life — it transforms it.
It teaches you how to live with meaning, how to show up for others, how to connect to Hashem — and how to enjoy this world while building eternity in the next.

A Foundation for Everything

There are four parts to the mitzvah of Talmud Torah:
Lilmod, Ul’lamed, Lishmor, V’La’asot — Learn it, Teach it, Guard it, Live it.

When Torah is the foundation of your day, your decisions, and your direction — everything changes.

You’re not just surviving. You’re building something that lasts.

Think about this: almost every mitzvah we do requires a new bracha each time.

  • Sit in a sukkah? Make a bracha.

  • Wash for bread? Make a bracha.

  • Put on tefillin again after a hefsek? Make a new bracha.

So why is Torah different?

Why do we only make the bracha on Torah once in the morning — and that’s it?

Because Torah isn’t something we start and stop.
It’s not one action. It’s the framework for everything.

From the moment we wake up, Torah is with us. There is no hefsek.
It guides how we speak, how we think, how we work, how we treat people, how we spend our time — and even how we eat.

Whether we’re learning in the Beit Midrash or solving a challenge at work, Torah is there, shaping the way we live.

It’s not just part of life. It’s the lens we see all of life through.

That’s why the bracha lasts all day —
because Torah never stops.

Hashem Wants You to Enjoy Life

Hashem didn’t create this world for us to suffer.

He created it so we could enjoy it — and elevate it.

  • Food is not just fuel — it’s delicious.

  • The world is filled with color, beauty, music, and light.

  • Torah learning fills the soul in a way no entertainment ever could.

  • Doing mitzvot gives us a sense of purpose no accomplishment can match.

A Torah life isn’t restrictive. It’s expansive.
It opens us up to the richness of life and helps us feel grounded in what truly matters.

This is the kind of life we were created for — spiritually rich, emotionally calm, mentally sharp, and deeply satisfying.

Bitachon: The Mindset That Frees You

And here’s the piece that brings it all together:

Bitachon.

You can be doing everything “right” — keeping mitzvot, learning Torah — but if you’re still living with anxiety, pressure, or frustration, you're missing one of the greatest gifts that Torah life was designed to give.

Bitachon isn’t just a concept.
It’s the inner experience of a Torah life.

When you really trust that Hashem is in charge — not just in theory, but in the moment-to-moment details — everything becomes lighter.

Let me tell you what happened this week.

Personal Story: Failing Forward with a Smile

Ever since I took the leap of emunah and went all-in on Torah and content creation, I’ve been figuring it out one day at a time.

There’s no playbook. I’m experimenting, learning new tools, building systems — and often failing.

This week, I was setting up something to help with my social media. It should’ve taken 10 minutes. It took hours. Error after error. Nothing worked.

But here’s the crazy part:

I was smiling. I was actually enjoying it.

Not because I like failure — but because I finally felt it in my bones:

Hashem runs the world. My hishtadlut doesn’t create success — it’s just the way I serve Him.

That clarity gave me peace. That peace gave me joy. And that joy reminded me why I’m doing this in the first place.

“Anu ameilim v’heim ameilim…”
“We toil, and they toil… but we receive reward.”

A Torah life means the effort itself has value — even when the results aren’t there.

It’s the Torah mindset and bitachon that earn the reward.

And you get peace from knowing you’re exactly where Hashem wants you to be.

Shavuot: Time to Reaccept the Most Beautiful Life

Shavuot isn’t just about cheesecake and staying up late.

It’s about standing at Har Sinai all over again and saying, with full hearts:
“Na’aseh v’nishma.”
We’ll do it. We trust You, Hashem.

And what’s the first of the Aseret HaDibrot?

“Anochi Hashem Elokecha…”
I am Hashem, your G-d.

It’s not a command. It’s a reality.

Before anything else, Hashem wants us to know:
I’m here. I took you out. I’m with you now.

And if you live with that awareness — with Torah in your hands and bitachon in your heart — then you’re already tasting the life you were created to live.

Your Shavuot Challenge: Taste Olam Haba Today

Here are 3 ways to experience the most enjoyable and fulfilling life — starting now:

1. Start Your Day with Torah

Modeh Ani. A few minutes of learning. One inspiring thought.
Habitachon is a great option. Start your day aligned.

2. Do Your Work with Bitachon

Whether you're working, building, or trying your best —
remember: success comes from Hashem.
Your effort is just how you serve.

3. Look for the Joy

This world was made for you to enjoy.
Find something beautiful today and thank Hashem for it.
Thanking and talking to Hashem builds your bitachon.

You Don’t Have to Wait for Olam Haba

When you live with Torah and bitachon, you don’t just prepare for the next world —
you get a taste of it right here in this one.

Hashem gave us the most powerful, beautiful, and enjoyable way to live.

And on Shavuot, we get to choose it all over again.

Let’s choose it with love.

🛠 Practical Tips:

1. Build Torah into Your Morning Routine
Even a few minutes makes a difference. Learn something small (Habitachon is a good option), say the brachot, or read a short dvar Torah. Start your day with Hashem’s words and let them shape the rest of your day.

2. Choose Bitachon Over Pressure
Next time something doesn’t go as planned, pause and remind yourself: “Hashem is running the show.” Let that reminder bring you calm and clarity — even in the chaos.

3. See the Good, Say Thank You
Train your eyes to spot beauty, blessing, or meaning in everyday moments. Say a quick “thank You” to Hashem — it builds your awareness and grows your joy.

4. Remember: The Effort Itself Has Value
Whether you’re learning, working, or trying your best — keep this in mind: “Torah never stops.” The process counts. The mindset matters. The reward is already growing.

Weekly Challenge: Taste Olam Haba This Week

Pick one area of your life — mornings, work, or relationships — and bring Torah or bitachon into it consciously each day.

Then ask yourself at the end of the week:

👉 Did it bring more peace? More purpose? More joy?

This week, don’t just prepare for Shavuot. Start living the life it celebrates.
