šØ Youāve Been Seeing Hashem All WrongāHereās the Proof
You donāt need a miracle. Youāre already in one. This Purim, unlock the hidden signs that Hashem has been orchestrating your life all along.
Hey there,
Iām sending this edition of Living the Dream early so you can read it before Purim and go into the chag with a deeper perspective. This weekās article has a powerful messageāone that I think we can all relate to on some level. When we see Purim through this lens, we connect not just to the joy, but to the journey of the Jews in the Purim story in a whole new way.
I love Purim. In fact, it might just be my favorite holiday. I connect to it on so many levelsāthe deep themes, the hidden miracles, the overwhelming simcha that can carry us through the entire year.
Think about this: We have a mitzvah to be happy on Sukkot, and if we truly tap into it, that simcha overflows into the rest of the year. Then, as the days grow darker and colder, Hashem gives us a kiss with the lights of Chanukah. As we keep going, we reach Adar, and Hashem gives us a pat on the back with Mi Shenichnas Adar Marbim BāSimchaāas if to say, āKeep going, youāve got this.ā
Purim is an incredibly powerful day for prayer, learning Torah and doing mitzvot. A day to ask Hashem for anything you want and need. Take advantage of every minute.

Building Small but Powerful Habits šŖ
On a personal note, my challenge to create a small healthy habit has been going wellāI havenāt missed a day! Iāll be honest, thoughāafter Shabbat, if my goal had been too big, I probably would have skipped it.
A 30-minute walk? I wouldnāt have convinced myself.
A 20-minute walk? That felt manageableāso I pushed through. And once I got started, I ended up walking way more than 20 minutes.
Thatās why setting ridiculously small goals is the best way to build habits. Once we prove to ourselves that we can show up, we can grow from there.
š„ How is your challenge going? Hit reply and let me know!
Wishing you a Purim Sameach filled with joy, clarity, and the ability to see Hashemās hand in every moment!

Breaking the Glass: How Purim Taught Me to See Hashem Everywhere

Growing Up with Hashem on the Shelf
Growing up Modern Orthodox, I believed in Hashem, but I also believed that I was in control of my life. Hashem was there, of courseābut He was more like a fire extinguisher, placed neatly behind a glass case that read: Break in Case of Emergency.
Most of the time, I had my plans, my strategies, my hard work. If something got too overwhelmingāif a crisis hit that felt bigger than meāthatās when I would break the glass and turn to Hashem.
Looking back, I realize that I wasnāt the first Jew to think this way.
The Jews of Shushan: Hashem Wasnāt Their First Call
In the story of Purim, the Jews in Shushan seemed to have had a similar mindset.
They attended Achashveiroshās extended party, thinking it was just another political event. They bowed down to Haman, assuming it was just the practical thing to do. They played by the rules, believing they or the powers in Shushan were in control of their fate.
Then things got worse. Much worse.
A decree was issued: the entire Jewish nation was marked for destruction. And suddenly, the Jews broke the glass.
They fasted for three days. They prayed. Esther risked her life by approaching the king without being summoned. For the first time in a long time, they turned to Hashemānot as an emergency escape plan, but because they realized they had nowhere else to turn.
And then, something incredible happened.
The Megillahās āCoincidencesā and Hidden Miracles
At first glance, the storyās turning point seems like a series of random events:
Achashveirosh canāt sleep.
He asks for the royal chronicles to be read to him.
The servant just so happens to open to the part where Mordechai saved his life.
At that exact moment, Haman enters, ready to ask for permission to kill Mordechai.
Instead, Achashveirosh commands Haman to honor Mordechai publicly.
What are the chances?
At the time, the Jews were focused on one thing: the decree. They wanted one miracleāfor Hashem to stop the evil plan from happening.
But by the end of the story, when all the pieces fell into place, they saw something even greater.
They realized that Hashem had been orchestrating everything from the very beginning.
Esther being taken to the palace? Not random.
Mordechai overhearing a plot to kill the king? Not random.
Hamanās rise to power? Not random.
Achashveiroshās insomnia? Definitely not random.
Hashem was never behind glass, waiting for them to call on Him in an emergency. He was writing the entire story.
And when they finally saw it, their response was overwhelming:
āKimu vākibluāāthey accepted the Torah all over again.
This time, it wasnāt because of a dramatic revelation at Har Sinai. It wasnāt out of fear. It was out of pure love and joy.
Breaking the Glass in Our Own Lives
There are times in life when we donāt see Hashemās hand in everything. We go about our daily routines, handling our challenges, making plans, working hard.
And then something happens. A crisis, a moment of fear, a problem we canāt solve. Thatās when we break the glass and turn to Hashem.
At first, we daven for one thing: a yeshuah. A solution.
But when we reach out to Hashem in complete sincerity, Hashem opens our eyes and if we pay attention, we see that Hashem was already working behind the scenes long before we ever cried out to Him.
And if we look even closer, weāll see that what we receive in return is so much greater than what we asked for.
Because what we get isnāt just a yeshuah. Itās a relationship.
We start to see how much Hashem is in our lives every single second.
We begin to trust that everythingāthe good, the bad, the confusing, the delayedāis perfectly orchestrated.
And when that happens, we accept Hashem and His Torah all over againānot out of obligation, but out of simcha.
Why Purim is the Ultimate Celebration
This is why Purim is all about simcha.
Itās not just about remembering a historical miracle. Itās about experiencing the joy of seeing Hashem clearer than ever before.
We unite with our fellow Jewsābecause just like in the Purim story, we are all in this together.
We give mishloach manot and matanot lāevyonimābecause joy increases when itās shared.
We drink to the point where we donāt know the difference between Mordechai and Hamanābecause deep down, we realize that even what seems bad (Haman) is really part of the good (Mordechai). Hashem is in complete control and is all good.
Chazal tell us that today, we make a bracha (Hatov VāHameitiv) for the good and a separate bracha (Dayan Emet) for the bad.
But in the future, there will only be one bracha: Hatov VāHameitiv.
Because we will see that Hashem was always behind the scenes, doing everything for our very best.
This Purim, letās break the glass before the emergency. Letās look around and recognize Hashemās hand, not just in the miracles, but in the daily moments that seem random.
Because when we do, weāll realize: the whole story has been a miracle all along.
PRACTICAL TIPS FOR IMPLEMENTING THE LESSON:
Morning Kavana: Before you start your day, say Modeh Ani with the awareness that Hashem orchestrated your waking up. Not an accidentādivine planning.
Pause Before Reacting: When something unexpected happens, pause and ask: How might this be part of Hashemās plan?
The Purim Perspective Shift: When faced with frustration, reframe it: This could be my Achashveiroshās insomnia momentāsomething setting up a hidden miracle.
Simcha Through Sharing: On Purim, make your mishloach manot more than just food. Add a meaningful note pointing out some little every day miracle.
WEEKLY CHALLENGE: BREAK THE GLASS BEFORE THE EMERGENCY
The Challenge:
This week, donāt wait for a crisis to call on Hashem. Instead, train yourself to see His hand in your daily life. Every morning, ask: Where do I see Hashem orchestrating things today? Every night, write down one ācoincidenceā that wasnāt really a coincidenceāsomething that happened that, in hindsight, was Hashem guiding you.
Behind the scenes, you are:
Strengthening your bitachon by shifting your perspective.
Creating an awareness habitāseeing Hashem in the ordinary, not just the extraordinary.
Rewiring your brain to experience simcha by recognizing that everything is for the good.
Bonus: Share your daily āhidden miracleā in a social post or WhatsApp status to inspire others.
